Privacy Policy

ClarityScan is designed to analyze products without requiring a cloud account. This policy explains what is processed, where it goes, and the choices available to you.

Effective date: August 17, 2026

Plain-language summary: Your profile, preferences, saved scans, and free-scan count stay on your device. Product lookups are sent to the relevant product database. Free users may receive Google ads after consent; Premium users do not receive ads. ClarityScan does not sell health-profile data.

1. Information stored on your device

Profile details you choose to enter, allergies and preferences, scan history, saved products, app settings, monthly free-scan usage, purchase status, and consent choices are stored locally using Apple system storage. No ClarityScan cloud account is required for these features.

2. Camera, photos, and text recognition

Camera and photo-library access is requested only when you use a scanning or photo feature. Camera frames are processed transiently for barcode and text recognition. A selected image or saved scan may remain in the app's local storage. ClarityScan does not send product photos, typed ingredient text, profile details, allergies, or preferences to Google for advertising.

3. Product and barcode lookups

When you search or scan a barcode, the barcode or search phrase may be sent to Open Food Facts, Open Beauty Facts, or Open Products Facts to locate product information. Those independent services may receive normal network information such as your IP address and apply their own privacy policies. Product records may be incomplete, community-contributed, translated, or outdated.

4. Purchases

Subscriptions use Apple's StoreKit. Apple processes purchase, billing, and entitlement information under Apple's policies. ClarityScan reads the resulting entitlement so it can unlock Premium, but it does not receive your full payment-card details.

5. Advertising and consent

The free plan uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK and Google's consent tools. Where required, ads are requested only after the consent flow is completed. Google and its advertising partners may process IP address, approximate location inferred from IP, device identifiers, diagnostics, advertising data, consent signals, and ad interactions for ad delivery, fraud prevention, frequency control, and measurement.

ClarityScan disables publisher-directed ad personalization and its publisher first-party advertising identifier. Google may still serve contextual, limited, or consent-based ads according to your region and choices. You can revisit available choices using Advertising privacy choices in the app's Settings. Premium does not request or display ads.

6. Diagnostics

Optional anonymous ClarityScan diagnostics are off by default. If enabled, diagnostic information is intended to help identify crashes and performance problems and is not used to build an advertising profile.

7. Sharing and sale

ClarityScan does not sell health-profile data. Information is disclosed only to the service providers described above, when needed to provide a feature you request, to protect users and the service, or when legally required. ClarityScan does not accept payment from brands to change a product score.

8. Retention, deletion, and security

You can delete local ClarityScan data from Settings. Removing the app also removes its local app container, subject to device backups controlled by you or Apple. Internet transmission and device storage cannot be guaranteed completely secure, so do not enter private medical records or other information you do not want stored on your device.

9. Children

ClarityScan is not directed to children under 13. Children should use the app only with the involvement of a parent or guardian and in accordance with local age requirements.

10. International use and your rights

Privacy rights vary by location and may include access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or withdrawal of consent. Because most ClarityScan information stays on your device, many requests can be completed directly in Settings. Ad-consent choices can be reviewed in Advertising privacy choices.

11. Changes

This policy may change as the app, providers, or legal requirements evolve. A new effective date will be posted here. Material changes will be presented in the app when reasonably required.

12. Contact

For privacy or support questions, use the ClarityScan support page. Please do not include medical records, payment-card details, passwords, or other sensitive information in your message.
